JZZZZZP is:

a 5 piece JumpJazz/Jive/Rhythm & Blues-band from Haarlem, Holland. All band members have a broad experience in various musical backgrounds; from Rock till Ska, from Punk till Hot-Club-de-France and from Dance till Jazzcore.

What brought the band together is their mutual love for old style Jazz-music as played in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Inspired by Jazz-Phenomena like Louis Jordan, Slim & Slam, Big Jay McNealy, Louis Prima and many, many, others.

All 5 musicians are experienced natural-born performers and their old-style Jazz-music is played with a ‘today’ attitude, easily turning on crowds with their energetic JumpJazz-&-Jive-Craze. During  festivals and concerts throughout the Netherlands,  Jzzzzzp is embraced by an enthusiastic dancing crowd of youngsters, middle-aged and seniors.

The band really enjoys a mixed partying crowd of all ages; like Louis Jordan used to sing: ‘don’t care of you’re young or old, get together, and let the good times roll’

Jzzzzzp radiates a whole lot of fun while on stage, contagious enough to make the crowd chant along with a lot of their songs during their interactive show.

The second largest free Jazz-festival in Holland (5 days, 100.000 visitors) is organized each year on numerous stages throughout the city center of Haarlem, hometown of Jzzzzzp. A few highlights for the band were to play the main-stage on Saturday-night 2 years in a row. Jzzzzzp received very good press: ‘….JZZZZZP should have been headliner….’

All Jzzzzzp band members play in different bands.Tenor Saxophone player Thomas Streutgers toured and recorded with legendary musicians such as

DERRICK MORGAN (JAM), RICO RODRIGUEZ (JAM), ALTON ELLIS (JAM) and DENNIS ALCAPONE (JAM) with his Ska-band ‘RUDE RICH & THE HIGHNOTES, in 1997 he won the “BIG BOSS JAZZ AWARD”.

During the 1990’s Jzzzzzp bass-player Dre Voorvrienden and singer P.P. Fischer toured Europe several times with the with their high-energy funk-rock band ‘BEATCREAM’.

Guitar player Arnold Smits toured famous Dutch bands such as GOTCHA!, DE RAGGENDE MANNE and SWEET CHARLES SHERRELL (USA, JAMES BROWN BAND).

Daniel Casey USA imported drummer, has toured for months with the famous Dutch band Jzzzzzp.

Jzzzzzp and its fans recently celebrated the release of the band’s debut full-length CD ‘Vledder Bop” released under the Rockhouse label, along with the band’s first performances abroad, traveling to  places as Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.

The Dutch Press on the first demo CD: ‘ “Rockin’ all night long” is the device of this JumpJazz band. Within a few songs you can hear quality and musicians who have a whole lot of fun. I’m sure they can turn a crowd into a JumpJazz frenzy’.
